The Golden Flower Project

A Magical Start in Nursery School: The Golden Flower Project!

We're embarking on an exciting new journey in Nursery this year with the introduction of the Golden Flower Project, which ties in beautifully with our new good behaviour policy.

It all began when teachers discovered five mysterious golden seeds in the playground at the start of the school year.

Together with all the Nursery pupils, we planted them in a golden pot. However, the seeds didn’t grow right away. That’s when our creative students came up with the idea of building a greenhouse for the pot. It worked! Soon, a golden sprout began to emerge.

The sprout grew so tall that pupils asked us to move it outside as it nearly touched the ceiling! But then, something unexpected happened. Last week, the pot disappeared, and instead, we found a letter from our workmen. They explained that they had cut down the sprout’s trunk but would be making a surprise for us from the wood.

That same week, they delivered a beautiful golden flower crafted from the sprout’s wood, assuring us that this flower wouldn’t grow any further.

Now, this golden flower will help our Nursery pupils grow throughout the year. Each petal represents a different value, and the flower will be the ‘golden thread’ running through our lessons and activities, linking to all four areas of the Early Education Curriculum, the good behaviour policy, the 8 key competences, and sustainability.

Last Thursday, we introduced the first petal, focusing on “I respect myself” – teaching pupils the importance of self-acceptance, knowing their likes and dislikes, and understanding that we are all unique.

Stay tuned as we continue to explore the magic of the Golden Flower and watch our pupils blossom!
